Classic and Silver Inland Championships

12-13th June 2021

With sailing now back under way, we are happy to confirm that the Classic and Silver Inland Championships will be going ahead at Grafham SC over the weekend of 12-13th June as announced at the end of last year.

Classics are classed as sail numbers 0-2700 plus Wyche & Coppock and Copeland McIntosh with sail numbers higher than this. Silver fleet boats are 2701-3400 excepting those counted in the classics fleet.

The aim is serious but fun racing amongst like boats with a strong emphasis on camaraderie and we would love to see as many of you as possible coming along to join us. The event will join with the existing FF Open, but there will be a separate start with results for silver and classics separated into their respective fleets. We will also have the Merlin Rocket fleet joining us for their own event, so plenty of racing and plenty of socialising!

If you only go to one meeting in 2021, make it this one!

It doesn’t matter if your boat hasn’t got all the latest gear, there will be something for everyone and you will be sailing with boats of a similar age and condition. In particular it would be great to see as many wooden boats as we can find, so if you have one that has been hidden away, now is the time to get her back on the water for this special event. Whatever your boat is made of, we will have some concours d’elegance prizes for the best turned out boats, most original, etc., so get polishing. We also hope to have various ‘hotshots’ around to offer advice and tips on setting up your boat or making sure everything runs smoothly.

As many of you know, Grafham is an excellent piece of water being centrally located, with good access from major routes and the club itself has excellent facilities and is well used to holding major events, so we can be assured of well-run races and off water amenities.

For those wanting to stay at the club, Grafham do have camping facilities, either for motorhomes or tents - sorry no caravans - suggest you reserve via either web collect or direct with the office [email protected].

So, put the date in your diary and keep an eye out on the FF Class website for the NOR and further details in due course, however we can already confirm that the entry fee for the event will be £43 per boat and that the intention is to host an evening meal for competitors on the Saturday at £5 per head, although the exact format of this will depend upon what Covid restrictions may be in force at the time.

We look forward to seeing you there!
