UKFFA Championship Series 2024

UKFFA 2024 Championship Series and UKFFA 2025 Flying Fifteen World Championship Qualifiers.

Following the FFI Europeans in France next spring (9-11 May), the UKFFA 2024 Championship series kicks off with the Southern Championships at Parkstone on 8-9 June. The National Championship follows and has been scheduled for 19-22 June at Strangford Lough in Northern Ireland, with the Inland Championship at Grafham Water on 20-21 July rounding out the pre-summer events.

After a summer break, the Flying Fifteens will be visiting Bassenthwaite for the Northern Championship on 7-8 September, with the series concluding with the Scottish Championships at Loch Lomond on 5-6 October.

In scheduling these events, we have been at the mercy of favourable tidal flows and other major events. However, we have attempted to allow for springtime practice, avoid potential clashes in the summer school holiday and spread the qualification events over the season – from June to October.
These five events will also form the qualification series for spaces allocated to UKFFA by FFI for the 2025 World Championship, scheduled for 9-22 August 2025 at the WPNSA in Weymouth.

Each UKFFA member will gain a qualification score, which is calculated as the simple average of their best three UKFFA placings at the five 2024 Championship events. The UKFFA allocation will be offered to members by their qualification score, from lowest to highest, until the allocation is filled. If a member declines their offer, the place will be offered to next highest qualifying score. Note that the UKFFA placing at an event is not necessarily the same as the event result, as only UKFFA registered members are scored. If a UKFFA member does not sail in all events, their DNC placing will be scored as the total UKFFA member entrants across all five events plus one. Also note that the UK allocation does not include automatic places offered to the FFI President, the Past World Champion and host nation class president – all of which are GBR boats.

The qualification series is the most straightforward entry to the next FFI Worlds, but not the only pathway. A small number of boats will be able to qualify at the pre-Worlds.

Further information on UKFFA 2025 World Championship Qualifiers will be published by UKFFA in due course.
